Nature is the New Black
The Carver Creativity Project is a community-based initiative emboldened with the guiding principle: Everyone should eat well, and everyone is an artist. This goal of this effort is to utilize the talent and resources that already exist within Tuskegee to beautify shared spaces, foster new skills, and create sustainable economic opportunities. Some concrete manifestations of these efforts include free art classes for all ages, a beautification effort to the Rosa Parks public space, and a new line of Tuskegee made artisanal products. To realize these goals the Carver Creativity Project will seek donations from local businesses in exchange for future marketing opportunities during community events. For ongoing support, we have the option for donors to give on a tiered system:
$25: Provides art supplies for one child for a month.
$75: Sponsors one adult's participation in a 6-week business development workshop.
$250: Underwrites the cost of a guest teaching artist for a specialized class.
$500: Sponsors an entire art class for one month.
And finally, to support the effort initially we will have an artisanal souvenir presale which will allow community members to order merchandise like tote bags, t-shirts, ceramic and postcards. With this initialize we hope to garner the support of community members to impart tangible and impactful change into this already culturally rich city.
